I recently read an article on ReelSEO about how
relevant advertising can increase the money a web publisher can earn. It seems like common sense but many sites just run video ads without thinking about:
• If the site is safe for the brand
• If the site appeals to the customer the advertiser wants to reach?
Though video advertising is growing on the web, we are still behind in offering advertisers the relevance they get from TV. If Coke runs ads during
WWE, they know exactly the audience they are going to get. Unfortunately many websites cannot offer the same. And having Ad Networks manually determine fit is in-effective. New tools are coming out that can incorporate relevance into automated ad serving systems. Therefore publishers need to learn how to tag, categorize, and organize their sites and video contents so advertisers can easily match up to them. It's worth the effort because advertisers will pay more for relevance.
